There’s nothing like a hot cup of coffee and some sweet macarons on a brisk morning in late fall. In our latest Fashion Short we visited the lovely Wine + Market and got lost in its charm. This place makes you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a little patisserie in the South of France.
From the glass plate piled high with pastel-toned cookies to the fresh baguettes standing in their baskets ready to be cut for the lunch rush, the Market offerings are as pretty as they are delicious. It was the perfect setting for our featured look!

Tulle Me Away Dress from ALTAR’D STATE | This one is different from the lace dress I’m wearing in the video, but it has a similar cut and a beautiful texture!
Working lace or tulle into an outfit can be intimidating and seemingly impossible, but in reality it’s quite simple! We put together a look showcasing a gorgeous lace dress from ALTAR’D STATE paired with some cranberry tights, wedge booties and a printed cardigan. The key with an outfit like this is to let the texture of the dress shine. Too many competing textures would have thrown things off, so for a subtle pop we added a print – an adorable kitten cardigan from LOFT to complement the cranberry tights.
This isn’t a strict rule, but I like to have common elements in my shoes, belts and bags whether it’s in the tone, texture or material. Here I used suede shoes and a canvas bag but the tones were similar. Sometimes I’ll wear leather shoes and a leather belt but in slightly contrasting tones. Keeping this in mind prevents clashing — and as someone who has an obsession with patterns and textures, this has been a very helpful guideline.
The handmade Tool & Garden Tote from Artifact Bag Co. was a perfect addition to this outfit. The colors accompanied the cranberry and cream lace beautifully and paired nicely with the Franco Sarto wedge booties. This bag is a must-have if your purse is eternally overflowing like mine. It was so comfortable to carry by hand or on my elbow, and the construction quality is excellent.
I like to go the minimalist route with jewelry, so I stuck to a champagne stone bracelet and some pearls. I see accessories as the icing on the cake, instead of a second cake. Some people can stomach two cakes, but I’m definitely not one of them. If you love to pile on the accessories, maybe you can teach me a thing or two about how to make it work!

The Ivory Pearl Cuff from BaubleBar.com | This isn’t a bracelet I wore in the video, but it’s perfect for the look! The original bracelets were J.Crew 2011.

Love the outfit – especially that the dress is really seasonless and can take you across several seasons based on how you accessorize it!
