We Welcome You!

on November 13 | in From Ben, Giveaways, Holidays, Magazine, Uncategorized | by | with 93 Comments

Hi! Welcome to the all new FOLKblog. I am so excited to share the changes with you. What we are creating will be an extension of FOLK the magazine, and the magazine will be an extension of what we have created here. The idea for the blog was to create a panel of contributors and curators that would best represent an authentic lifestyle. I searched globally for our contributors. Our starting panel is a group of ladies that have major blogs of their own and bring top quality to the world of blogging. Some of these ladies you will know from the magazine, some of them you will know from their blogs, but I can assure you, you will fall in love with everyone here.

I want to create a mega-blog — one that you will want to start each day with. We will have new content every day. Topics will be diverse, but they will all fall under the FOLK umbrella and have the FOLK feel. The new blog will allow FOLK to be multi-platform, in a couple of weeks we will be launching a weekly FOLKshow on the blog which will bring videos to your screen. We will also be on Pinterest and Instagram and I encourage you to follow us on both. FOLK is all about experiencing life together as a community.

By bringing together a group of contributors that already have established blogs you are sure to never run out of content to enjoy. On the right of this screen you will find links to each of the contributors personal blogs. Check them out and enjoy. Part of creating the mega-blog will be bringing such a diverse audience to the FOLK blog, which will be a lot of fun. FOLK, the magazine, is void of a specific demographic, it will be exciting to create a blog that is like that. People from all walks of life will find relevant content here. From photography, to food, to DIY, to fashion and beauty we will have it all. I can’t wait for the coming weeks as we present a truly FOLK style Christmas! Enjoy, and be sure to take advantage of a subscription special below…

This Christmas I am thankful for life and family. For the life my dad who is battling with cancer and is slowly winning the battle. For my life to finally be in remission from crohn’s after 12 years and almost losing to it. This Christmas I am thankful for the happiness within my family. My sister went through a divorce at a young age and with a young child, and has been through a lot in the years since. She has finally found a place in life that she is genuinely happy, with herself, her job, and with a good man. My brother has had a career opportunity come to him that has opened a new world to him and could mean big things in his life. My parents have reconnected and found the long-lost happiness in their marriage. And I am working a job that I love, living with roommates that I love, and have new friends that I love. We are all happy and all at the same time, and it is going to make for a wonderful holiday!!

While so many are suffering so much throughout the world from wars, starvation, natural disasters, and other horrible experiences I find myself to be very rich indeed.

He’s been sick on and off for six years but we now have a name foe it Just two weeks ago we found out our oldest daughter who’s 17, has the same disease. I am thankful for so many things this year. Having just gone through “Sandy” and having very little damage in our little corner of Heaven I am so thankful that this area was spared this time. Many people here are still recovering from last Octobers flooding. Prayers go out to all that had damage and especially those whom are still without the everyday comforts we all take for granted. A roof over our heads, food on the table, running water, heat for our homes and light at the flip of a switch.

  12. Mary Beth Schwarz says:

A husband who loves me through my bitchiness. That several family members who have experienced unimaginable tragedy will welcome a new baby into their lives soon.

  14. I am thankful for the tremendous blessings I have in life….a beautifully wonderful family, a awesome sturdy home to keep our family safe and warm, a calling to live a life as a creative, and all the many joys that surrounds us all. Thank you for a place to put that in writing!

I am thankful that I have been given another year with my Grandma. She has been fighting a tough battle with cancer, if there is one thing I have learned by watching her is that every. single. day. counts.
Live a simple life and love every moment in it.

  16. Marian Luther says:

I am thankful for so many wonderful things in my life but I am especially thankful at this moment for the wonderful bloggers out there like KariAnne at Thistlewood Farm who teach me new and amazing things (and always make me laugh!) and share their exciting finds, like FOLK Family! The destruction from Hurricane Sandy has brought home even more the importance of living simply and our family is committed to helping those in need by living a simpler life so we can help those families through their ordeal.

Not sure how, not sure when…but I love that I live in a land where with a little hard work and a lot of passion, we can make dreams come true!!

  22. I’m grateful for life’s unexpected turns that propelled us to live a more simple life. The changes made to our lifestyle have drawn our family closer. I cherish the small, ordinary things and see beauty in the natural world around me that used to be unnoticed. Life and health are celebrated daily.

  23. theboldabode says:

I’m thankful for fried pickles and hot cornbread fresh from the oven, when the butter just begins to melt and slide sideways across the top. I”m thankful for quiet moments and clicking keys, because that means someone in the house is writing something. I’m thankful for warm hugs and hair that needs to be brushed out of a chocolate-milk-moustached-face. I’m thankful for Kermit the Frog and Animal and Black Labs that lay their heads in my lap on a cold night. I’m thankful for the internet… and how it connects us together in waves across the world, narrowing our lives to a place where distance means little to the deepening friendships that bind and strengthen our hearts and lives together in ways that are inexplicable.

Oh, and Tina Fey… and Mumford and Sons…And the color pink.

  24. Wendy says:
