Sutton Place Designs | Set of 2 Embroidered Pillow Covers

It’s Christmas Gift Guide Giveaway night #3 here on FOLKblog and we have yet another great gift idea for you. The PERFECT hostess gift!

“Vintage fabrics have been a passion of mine for many years. It started when my grandmother passed away 30 years ago and we discovered stacks of linens that she had hand-embroidered. It was love at first sight. I can’t resist a tattered pillowcase or grain sack with holes. To me they are things of beauty. By working with vintage fabrics, I can offer an American made product that adds character and interest to any decor.

I am the author of the blog On Sutton Place and my Etsy shop was the natural next step. I began sewing at the age of 10 and never loved it more than I do now. I recently quit my day job in order to devote more time to Sutton Place Designs. I have expanded my shop hoping to fulfill my dream of making a legitimate income doing something I love.

I take pride in offering items that are hand made by me, one at a time. I live in the heart of the Midwest and production takes place out of a workroom in my home. As I mark the end of my first year as an Etsy shop owner, I can honestly say that my business is now the thing in my life that makes me feel like I can do anything. No boundaries. Just dreams.” – Ann Drake

Ann’s goal is to share her learning experiences, inspirations and ideas from her home on Sutton Place. Her design philosophy is simple: Collect things you love and make them work! For more inspiration from Ann visit her blog.

You can Enter to Win the set of two embroidered pillow covers pictured above by leaving a comment on this post. What are the lyrics to your favorite Christmas carol? Pure linen embroidered with the seasonal phrases ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Sleigh bells ring’  is backed with red buffalo check that adds a festive touch to any decor. The pillow covers measure 12″ x 16″ and have a zipper closure. Similar designs can be purchased from her Etsy shop. Be sure to leave your email address. A winner will be randomly selected on November 24th and contacted via email.

Don’t forget to follow Ann on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest! If you haven’t already, but sure to also enter to win the La Bonne Vie Rockin’ Roses Necklace and Start Hitched Wagon Happy Holiday’s Gift Pack.

    Mary did you know that your baby boy would give sight to a blind man?
    Mary did you know that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand?
    Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
    And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

    Oh Mary did you know

    The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will walk again.
    The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb

    The answer is no – Ooh baby, it’s cold outside
    This welcome has been – I’m lucky that you dropped in
    So nice and warm — Look out the window at that storm
    My sister will be suspicious – Man, your lips look so delicious
    My brother will be there at the door – Waves upon a tropical shore
    My maiden aunt’s mind is vicious – Gosh your lips look delicious
    Well maybe just a half a drink more – Never such a blizzard before

    I’ve got to go home – Oh, baby, you’ll freeze out there
    Say, lend me your comb – It’s up to your knees out there
    You’ve really been grand – Your eyes are like starlight now
    But don’t you see – How can you do this thing to me
    There’s bound to be talk tomorrow – Making my life long sorrow
    At least there will be plenty implied – If you caught pneumonia and died
    I really can’t stay – Get over that old out
    Ahh, but it’s cold outside

    Baby it’s cold outside

    Brr its cold…
    It’s cold out there
    Cant you stay awhile longer baby

    O beautiful star, the hope of life

    O beautiful star of Bethlehem, shine on

    For the redeemed, the good and the blessed
    Yonder in glory when the crown is won
    Jesus is now the star divine
    Brighter and brighter He will shine
    O beautiful star of Bethlehem, shine on
    O beautiful star of Bethlehem

  62. I would love these pillow covers. Absolutely beautiful, as always Ann!

    I have so many favorites. The one Carol that popped into my mind while reading this post is, Mary’s Boy Child…

    Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day.
    And man will live for evermore because of Christmas Day.

    Long time ago in Bethlehem so the Holy Bible said
    Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day.

    Hark now hear the angels sing a king was born today
    And man will live for evermore because of Christmas Day.
    Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day.

    While shepherds watch their flocks by night,
    They see a bright new shining star,
    They hear a choir sing a song, the music seemed to come from afar.

    Hark, now hear the angels sing, a king was born today,
    And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.
    [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/christmas_carols/marys_boy_child.html ]
    Oh a moment still worth was a glow, all the bells rang out
    There were tears of joy and laughter, people shouted
    “let everyone know, there is hope for all to find peace”.

    Now Joseph and his wife, Mary, came to Bethlehem that night,
    They found no place to bear her child, not a single room was in sight.

    And then they found a little nook in a stable all forlorn,
    And in a manger cold and dark, Mary’s little boy was born.

    Hark, now hear the angels sing, a king was born today,
    And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.
    Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.

    Oh a moment still worth was a glow, all the bells rang out
    There were tears of joy and laughter, people shouted
    “let everyone know, there is hope for all to find peace”.

    Oh my Lord…

    The stars in the sky looked down where He lay, The little Lord Jesus, asleep in the hay.
    Away in manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head;
    The stars in the sky looked down where He lay, The little Lord Jesus, asleep in the hay.
    The cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes, But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.;
    I love Thee Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
    And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh. A hay.
    The little Lord Jesus. asleep on the Hay.

    These pillows are so special, and both hold special meaning for me. “O Holy Night” reminds me of listening to Celine Dion singing it while decorating our Christmas tree as a family – to this day, we all drink hot chocolate and listen to all of our favorite Christmas songs and sing them together while we decorate our house for the holidays. “Sleigh bells ring” reminds me of my grandmother – she played classic Christmas music on her record player every year when we would visit her for Christmas. The good stuff – Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, you name it. She died when I was 18, and I miss her so much. But listening to those classic Christmas songs brings her to life again.

    Joy to the World!!!

  124. Just beautiful, I love Silent Night, Holy Night , All is Calm, All is Bright…on Christmas Eve we would sing that at church and light our candles.

  125. In the bleak midwinter
    Frosty wind made moan,
    Earth stood hard as iron,
    Water like a stone;
    Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
    Snow on snow,
    In the bleak midwinter,
    Long ago.

    Our God, heaven cannot hold him,
    Nor earth sustain;
    Heaven and earth shall flee away
    When he comes to reign;
    In the bleak midwinter
    A stable place sufficed
    The Lord God incarnate,
    Jesus Christ.

    Enough for him, whom Cherubim
    Worship night and day
    A breast full of milk
    And a manger full of hay.
    Enough for him, whom angels
    Fall down before,
    The ox and ass and camel
    which adore.

    Angels and archangels
    May have gathered there,
    Cherubim and seraphim
    Thronged the air;
    But his mother only,
    In her maiden bliss,
    Worshipped the Beloved
    With a kiss.
