Flirt and Flutter Handcrafted Jewelry | Fine Silver Fingerprint Heart Necklace

We’re back tonight with a Gift Guide Giveaway feature that will touch your heart – literally.

“Hi!  I’m Kaleen Wolfe, the owner and designer / creator for Flirt & Flutter Handcrafted Jewelry.  I’m also a fourth-generation entrepreneur.  My understanding of what it means to sell American-made products is that I am part of this lineage.  My grandfather is an auctioneer; my mother and grandmother are beauticians; my father and brother work together as scale mechanics, continuing a business begun by my father’s father.  My family personifies the abstract “American-made.”  As a result, American-made is what I’ve been raised to believe in, and it’s what has always felt warm and comfortable.

Today’s American-made is a forward-focused aesthetic grounded in tradition and residual Puritan work ethic.  Like my family, my hands are the root of my business.  My knuckles are cracked from the Pennsylvania winter; sanding and polishing jewelry has worn away bits of my fingertips.  Yet my hands are things of wonder and strength: they carry my baby; they break bread at meals; they sift through soil, gather eggs from our chickens, and scratch our cats’ chins.  And they are intimately involved in each piece of jewelry I individually handcraft.  Built around fingerprints, pet prints, and very first footprints, nearly every piece of jewelry I create has a unique story; often, I am blessed to hear these stories.  The ability to create jewelry that is meaningful and can be a family heirloom is very special and makes me feel part of something bigger.  This connection, I believe, is both the crux of my “American-made” and why I am so motivated to work hard at what I do.

My custom jewelry business began three years ago, soon after the birth of my first son.  I registered my mom and I for a month-long beading class.  Upon my first snip of silver wire, I was inspired by this new creative outlet.  Beading progressed to metalwork experimentation for family gifts, and Facebook photos of these family gifts progressed to requests from others.  Since then, I’ve worked to expand my custom jewelry line, frequently introducing new designs and alternative metal options.  While my business continues to evolve, I still handcraft all Flirt and Flutter jewelry in my home studio, which means that each piece is created in the midst of family chaos and – quite simply – love.”

You can order direct from Kaleen’s Etsy Shop and be sure to like her Facebook page to keep up with her new designs!

Enter to Win this beautiful, custom fine silver fingerprint heart with a cubic zirconia birthstone inset on a sterling silver (18”) chain by leaving a comment on this post. Who’s fingerprints have touched your heart?  This design is appropriate for a child’s or an adult’s fingerprint. It would make the ideal gift for a new mother! Kaleen will mail you a mold kit (with return postage included) and will custom make the piece just for you! A winner will be selected at random on December 1st and contacted via email.

I have been searching for thumb print jewelry. I know this is for a living loved one, but would be interested if you can also do something with a finger print from a loved one that has passed. My brother was killed tragically in a car crash way too young and the funeral home took his print for me. The jeweler they use wants almost $1,000 for a dime sized pendant. That’s just too much but it’s off the price of gold. I would love a keep sake!
