Alphabetical Architecture | Custom Architecture Art in Handmade Poplar Frame

Enjoying life hinges on enjoying the small moments that make up each day. Tonight’s Gift Guide Giveaway features Alphabetical Architecture and is perfect for that person on your gift list who likes to slow down and gaze at the vintage gingerbread trim work… or smell the roses.

“Alphabetical Architecture really came about by accident! About 6 years ago I was working on a Christmas present for my parents and took all the photos to spell their last name, but couldn’t find a frame for them. After much searching (and maybe getting a little carried away with the photography!) I found that I had the beginning of a small business. I was getting requests for photos but couldn’t give my customers a framed piece of artwork. Gaylen started making the frames in his basement and the business took off!

A father/daughter adventure started that year, and we have loved working together on our website, art shows and traveling around to take more photos (our favorite)! This family business has given us an opportunity to grow closer and spend more time together. We are so grateful that it has grown to this extent and we cannot wait to see where it takes us.

We are especially proud of our frames. All are handmade in Howell, Michigan from poplar wood milled right in Highland, Michigan. Gaylen makes sure that all his supplies for the frames come from somewhere close to his backyard. Our photos are all locally shot by me, and I love using local landmarks that our customers can recognize.  Our work helps to support several local businesses, including the wood mill and the local glass company. We would never consider going elsewhere for our supplies. We’ve noticed that our customers care about where our products are made, and we are always proud to tell them that we are American-made and Michigan-made!” – Erin Gottbreht

You can learn more about Alphabetical Architecture on Erin and Gaylen’s website. Be sure to also take the time to like them on Facebook and check out their Etsy store. Have a question about a custom piece? Reach out to Erin and Gaylen via telephone at 248-890-0839.

Enter to Win a custom frame with any word of your choice, up to 10 letters, by leaving a comment on this post. What word would you choose and why?  The winner can choose from the photos on their website and they will frame it with a handmade, painted poplar frame. Erin takes the black and white 4×6 photos of architectural details that resemble letters. Gaylen makes all of the frames in his shop in Howell, Michigan. A winner will be randomly selected on December 3rd and contacted via email. They promise to deliver by Christmas!
